About Us

Both of us have been powder surfing for the last 20 years and didn't even know it! When we were young around the age of 10, for Christmas we were each given a "Black Snow, Snow Thrasher" or more commonly known as a "Snurfer"; Basically a snowboard with spikey top sheet instead of bindings, and a rope that was tied to the nose that you would hang onto for balance. Our first "Learn to slide sideways" boards. Little did we know our childhood boards would one day be the Inspiration and spirit of B.M.P.T.

 

I can remember the night so clearly. Reminiscing about the old days learning to slide around the farmer fields back home in southern Ontario. We thought it could be fun and easy to make a mock up "big kid" version of our old snow thrashers from old snowboards. So we cut the tail off our old snowboards with a jigsaw into surf inspired shapes, Dunks with the fish and Al with the Swallow. Drilled a hole in the nose and attached a string, then stuck some arts and crafts foam to the top for grip and instantly we are 10 years old again! Sliding down the snowbanks, streets and our neighbors yards just like we did 20 years ago.

 

A couple days later we hiked the local mountain and proceeded to surf our "big kid" Snow Thrashers completely binding free the entire way down the mountain. Our minds were instantly blown, and later that night realized we had to see how far we could take our new discovery. The very next day we bought the wood to build our first PowThrasher press, and a few days later 'ProtoType #1' was born and the rest is history.
